Why "The Box"

Why "The Box"

We founded The Box because we saw a discrepancy in the care and information provided to young women at the beginnings of experiencing their periods.

The Problem

Talking about your period can be tricky, even if its with someone you are super comfortable with, like either of your parents. It's an overwhelming thing to happen, and sometimes it is hard to know who to ask. Period can definitely make you feel shy and even a little awkward, but that is totally normal and lots of girls feel the exact same way!

The Solution: What's inside The Box

Menstrual Products like pads and a custom pouch to carry all of the necessary items during your cycle. We also have some self care items like chapstick, acne patches, a facemark, hand sanitizer and some tea to help ease any symptoms you may experience during your first few periods. We also added a note explaining all of our items, along with a QR code that links to this site where you can find all first time period information needs.

Community Benefits

We created a pyramid example to show just how much providing all of these items and info can help a community; it's a trickle down effect. This is especially important when it comes to the community of girls we are uplifting by giving them all of the knowledge they need to confidently handle this on their own.

Implementation Made Easy

We plan on getting our product into schools and community programs because we believe that girls should have access to all of the period products and information they need. We want to help train and support educators so they can facilitate positive and productive conversations with their students. We also plan on providing digital resources so that these girls receive continuous guidance throughout this time in their life.

Invest in Confidence, Education and Well-being

It is fact that all girls deserve the education and support when it comes to knowledge and resources for changes happening with their bodies. In the United States, approximately 20% of students who menstruate have missed school due to lack of access to period products. Furthermore, research reveals that 39% of girls in the U.S. have skipped school because of their periods. We are actively doing a disservice to young girls and their education by not preparing them for this step in their lives.

Periods are a fact of life, but shame and discomfort don't have to be. The Box helps girls feel confident and prepared while taking the weight off parents and educators who may not know how to address this topic comfortably.
