Navigating your first period can feel like a big step, but The Box is here to support you every step of the way. Carefully curated with self-care and comfort in mind, this kit is packed with essentials to help you feel prepared, confident, and cared for during your cycle.

What's In The Box?

CHAPSTICK

Chapstick is always a great self care tool to have in general. The reason we have it in our box is because during a period you can become increasingly dehydrated. Your hormone levels will change a lot during your period, and that has a direct effect on how you feel overall. One of those hormones is called Estrogen, which is basically like the CEO of puberty for girls, and she plays a big role in maintaining our overall health. Estrogen levels dropping can make your skin or your lips increasingly dry; so having a moisturizing chapstick on hand is crucial to keeping you feeling your best during your period.

ACNE PATCHES

Acne is something everyone deals with at some point in their life. We all have a different experience which means that each of us finds different tools to help us deal with it. These Acne patches are extremely helpful to have on hand because of the way our skin may behave during a period. That hormone I mentioned before, Estrogen, is all over the place during a period. Because of this we may experience increased oil production in our skin which can cause clogged pores and inflammation which can be super irritating. Acne patches can combat that by absorbing that excess fluid and preventing any further irritation.

PADS

A great starter for anyone that gets a period is a pad. They come in tons of different sizes depending on your flow. Now your period flow is how much you bleed during your period. This can be affected by tons of different things like hormones, weight, stress, exercise or even a medical condition. Any way the wind blows, pads are a perfect period starter. You just open them up, put the sticky side on your underwear to secure it and let nature take its course. How often you change it is all dependent on the flow I mentioned earlier and how big the size of the pad you use is. What we have in this box is a medium sized pad to get you started.

HAND SANITIZER

While hand sanitizer may not be a necessity, it is a very helpful accessory in your period tool dropdown menu. Sometimes periods can be a little messy and having some hand sanitizer is good for peace of mind and keeping your hands clean. We have a mini one here in our box so you can fit it in a bag to keep with all of your period essentials.

TEA

The ultimate comfort drink on a rainy day or during a tough period is Tea. This particular type is beneficial because herbal teas can have different properties that help with a slew of things we deal with on the daily. On a period we may feel sick or even downright uncomfortable. Lavender chamomile tea is helpful with this specifically because it has anti-inflammatory properties to aid in pain relief and soothe discomfort. Ginger and Peppermint have some similar properties and while they may not provide instant relief, it can be a big help so we have a little packet here for you to start your journey.

FACE MASK

A face mask falls in the same category as acne patches and chapstick. Our skin can get fairly dehydrated during our periods so being able to find ways to combat this can be super helpful for skin care and self care. Using a face mask, in addition to being hydrating, can also provide a level of comfort and slow you down a bit during a crazy time. Having to take a few minutes to focus on yourself and what you need is extremely important while dealing with this new experience for the very first time.

TOILETRY BAG

This small toiletry bag is a perfect size to fit all of your first time period essentials. Pads, hand sanitizer and whatever else you want to have will fit in this pouch to go in your backpack or any sort of bag you use for school. Simple and discreet, it is a necessity for any girl dealing with her very first period.

HEATING PAD

You may wonder why we have a heating pad in here for you. Period cramps are a symptom that you may not have at all or one you may experience tenfold. Cramps are contractions of your uterus that result in an uncomfortable or tight feeling in your lower abdomen in the days leading up to and also during your period. Placing a heating pad on your lower abdomen or lower back can help soothe period cramps by opening up your blood vessels, making it easier for your muscles to get what they need so they don't freak out on you. Lots of girlies like to get the plug in heating pads so you can adjust the temperature, but to start we have this one for you that gets hot as soon as you open it up and lasts for about 10 hours.
